Local Republicans Curiously Free of Allegations of Vote Stealing and Impersonation of Public Officials
In a shocking development, research uncovers no allegations of voter manipulation, fraud, or impersonation of public officials amongst Republican challengers for local office in Bridgeport.
“I know these people, the Republican contenders,” says candidate David Herz, who is up against Alfredo Castillo in the 136th. Herz says “We just don’t think it adds ‘street cred’ to get arrested or make ourselves the targets of criminal investigations.”
He adds that blue cities just don’t equate with prosperity. It’s as clear to him as two plus two not equaling five (suggesting he’s read Orwell and learned a lesson or two), and XY genotypes not being girls (he also claims a science background).
“You don’t become a cultural center by trying to become a cultural center,” Herz maintains, alluding to the various attempts of our local politicians to put lipstick on a pig: murals on empty buildings, art shows of the ‘World on Fire.’ “These fires were set by our blue politicians and they have been fanning the flames for sixty odd years.”
“Culture follows industry and wealth creation. Our job is to make of ourselves a hub of industry, it is to educate our children at the highest levels, which can only be done if we encourage and embrace the traditional family structures that have always been the backbones of thriving communities.”
“Stop stealing. Stop blaming. Stop begging for handouts from the state and federal governments.” Herz maintains that people will pick themselves up and make a better world for themselves if that is what is incentivized.
He urges the people Bridgeport to give his colleagues and him a chance.
Post Election Trump Derangement Syndrome
Stop Calling Us Idiots
I am from the Gold Coast (U.S. Census Bureau, Super-Public Use Microdata Area Region 09600). In my neighborhood, this election season has been one of alarmism and hand-wringing about the Death of Democracy/Rise of Fascism that a new Trump term would usher in.
Now that the election is over, the analysis is not “what did we miss?” Rather it is “how come these voters can't see the terrible thing that they have chosen?”
Speculation is made about why Ms. Harris lost that has nothing to do with her vision or policy. Rather it suggests we are still racist, she was “perceived as weaker,” “she started late,” racism, misogyny, the female glass ceiling, her natural allies somehow lost sight of how good she is for them, and her “loss of the culture war.”
Trump Derangement Syndrome: the Connecticut Post
I was struck by your placement of the first editorial in your Wednesday paper (CT Post, Oct. 30, 2024) on page 2 under the guise of an article by Dan Haar.
The opinion page was even worse.
Your disdain for President Trump and cherry picking of facts is laughable. President Trump's handling of COVID is criticized. Do you forget the press excoriation of Trump when he went to stop flights from China? or your dismissal of his reporting in the fall of 2020 that a vaccine was forthcoming?
What would a MAGA America look like?
There is no need to make up fantastical predictions of what a MAGA America would look like when we have a recent one to show us. In contrast, Mr. Biden's tenure has been an unmitigated disaster. Every charge Mr. Bernstein (CT Post, May 11 opinion page) levels at Mr. Trump seems to be the current modus operandi of Mr. Biden
Sure, Mr. Trump may move to cut more taxes. Reasonable people can argue about how we tax and spend ourselves into greater prosperity, and tax cuts will always benefit those who actually pay them, and sometimes benefit the rest of us as well.
Losing Grip in a Shame-Free World
How easy it is for the left to tell those it doesn't like on the right to be ashamed of themselves, the subtext being that the target should exit the scene.
Ms. Campbell sees warning signs. Losing our grip in a shame-free world, CT Post, Jan. 16, p. A9. “Our moral maps” are off. According to her, the signs are flashing about our “country's purported slow side into fascism.”
